Supppps. I am thrilled to announce that I have a new print release for a short film that is still in production called NOVOS.

The print is titled “Things Made New” and is a 4 color screen printed poster on 18 x 24 inch 100 lb Lemon Drop French Paper. The entire edition size is 100, with 50 artist’s copies. I signed and numbered all the prints.

There is also a green color variant in an edition of 20.

The prints are gorgeous, the details came out nicely. To see more photos of these posters, please check out my flickr photo set.

For those of you that missed I Saw the Devil and NOVOS, I’ll be selling my copies of both posters at the same time next week (Mon, Tues, or Wed). I’ll make an announcement on this blog and on my facebook and twitter before the sale actually happens.

Have a good weekend.

Wow, what a thrill ride this week. I had four prints released this week (I Saw the Devil, Mogwai, and two NOVOS posters (regular and variant). I Saw the Devil and Mogwai were released early in the day on Thursday (5/12/11) on Mondo and my site respectively. Both of those prints sold out in less than ten minutes each. Then, at 11 pm PST that same day, the NOVOS prints were released on the NOVOS film site, with the variant selling out right away, making it my third sold out print in one day. The regular NOVOS prints sold out the morning after.

For those of you that missed out on I Saw the Devil and NOVOS, I will be selling both of those sometime next week. Please check this blog and my facebook/twitter as I will be making a post before they go on sale. For NOVOS, I will only be selling the regular color way.

MOGWAI, the Sequel

May 11, 2011

UPDATE: The Mogwai posters have sold out.

Hard core will never die indeed, because Mogwai is still out there tearing it up. I did another poster for one of their shows in Los Angeles at the Mayan Theatre (2009 poster) and I’m positively thrilled to be releasing it for sale tomorrow (5/12/11) in my online store for $30 each at a random time (limit one per household).

This print is a two color screen printed poster on 18 x 24 inch 100 lb Lemon Drop French Paper. All posters are signed and numbered by me in an edition of 80.

I made a very thorough process video of me making this poster, showing both aspects of the traditional drawing and inking, as well as the digital aspects.

To see all the photos of the poster as well as photos of the original drawings, please peruse my photoset on flickr.

The concert was quite awesome as my ears are still ringing. Mogwai never holds back when they play. The Mayan Theatre was the perfect place for them too, with it’s insane decor and Mayan themes, it really created an excellent mood and atmosphere. The band sold out of my posters before the show even started.

Backstage, there was a lot of celebrating. Apparently, it was Stuart Braithwaite’s (guitar, vocals) birthday that night and Martin Bulloch (drummer) had a child recently (because of that, he couldn’t join Mogwai on tour). Mogwai is super friendly and they all appreciated my poster and even signed one for me. Stuart told me the 2009 psoter is framed in his parents’ house back in Scotland. I had an incredibly hard time understanding half of what those Scots were saying, so I just nodded and smiled.

To see all the photos from the show, please check out my flickr photoset.

In other news…
I’ve got some really exciting posters for some of the awesomest bands out there in the works as well as some other neat projects. I can’t reveal too much, but I’ve been super busy cranking out drawing after drawing and I am doing things I have never done before, artistically.

I’m also hoping I can get to Olly Moss’ solo show, (I’m calling it FREE BEER), at Gallery 1988 after I get out of Unique LA during the day. He’s sporting a plethora of new work and if you think you know what he’ll do, you’d best think again. Let’s all go?!? Yay? yay!

There will probably be a massive line, so you’re likely see to me outside, starting a fire with two sticks and writing “Day One” in my wilderness explorer journal.

UPDATE: The Thus Spoke Zarathustra Waiting List is now CLOSED.

UPDATE: The Appleseed Cast Tour Variant Poster and Art Print are sold out.

UPDATE: The Appleseed Cast Double Sets have sold out.

THUS SPOKE ZARATHUSTRA

Hi everyone. If you like light reading, then you’ve certainly grabbed paperback copy of “Thus Spoke Zarathustra” by Friedrich Nietzsche and thumbed through it.

I made this print as part of the “Required Reading” group art show at 1988 Gallery, curated by the awesome forces of OMG posters and Rob Jones.

The print is a 24 x 36 inch four color screen printed poster on 100 lb white cover paper in an edition of 100. The prints sold out at the gallery and my remaining copies will at my online store for $100 each at a random time on Wednesday, April 20, 2011. My copies are signed and numbered and extra packaging and special tubes will be used for shipping (standard $6 domestic, $10 international).

To see more photos of the Thus Spoke Zarathustra Prints, please check out this slide show I put together.

APPLESEED CAST TOUR POSTER AND ART PRINT COLOR VARIANT

My previous posters for the Appleseed Cast’s Spring Tour were immensely successful and the posters sold out fast, for the band and myself.

For the East Coast Tour, the band asked me to offer up a color variant and I changed the art a bit (added a girl and Vespa).

The tour posters are 18 x 24 inch four color screen printed posters in an edition of 120. They will be available for $25 in the band poster section of my online store.

Like last time, I also made an art print version of the tour poster in an edition of 40.
I will offer those up in the art print section of my online store for $30. A limited amount of sets that include both color ways for $50 will also be available in my online store for $50.

The tour posters, the art prints, and the art print sets will all be available at a random time on Wednesday, April 20, 2011.

Standard shipping rates of $6 domestic and $10 international will apply for both individual posters/prints and sets.

To see more photos of the Appleseed Cast Tour Posters and Art prints, please check out this slide show I put together.

If you haven’t seen it, here’s the nifty process video:

IPHONE 4 SKINS

These are skins and decals custom made for the iPhone 4. They are strongly adhesive, but can be easily removed without leaving gooey residue on your phone. Thanks to all the people who voted for their favorite designs on facebook. Currently, I only have skins/decals for iPhone 4 devices.

These are available at my online store for $12 each or $30 for all 4. Shipping is totally free, domestic or international.

To see more detail pictures of the iPhone 4 skins, please check out this slide show I put together:

WONDERCON 2011

WonderCon 2011 was a big hit. It was my first time doing it and I had such a blast. I prepared a slide show of photos, so please check those out! Big thanks to Jason Munn aka the Small Stakes for letting me, Justin, and Jessica crash at his place.

UPDATE: BOTH THE TOUR POSTER AND THE ART PRINT ARE SOLD OUT. THANK YOU.

I am so pumped to be working with the Appleseed Cast again, one of my favorite bands. They’ve been working hard and taking names for years, so I am glad to help them in any way that I can.

I created this tour poster for them:

I’m been really experimenting with textures and creating a sense of contrasting scales. I’m really pleased with the results.

The poster is an 18 x 24 inch four color screen printed poster on 100 lb white cover paper in an edition of 120. All copies and signed and numbered by me.

The band told me that they sold out of these posters midway through the tour, so I am selling my copies in my online store right now for $25 each.

I also created an art print version of this poster in an edition of 40, which is available in the Various Prints section of my online store for $30 each. All copies and signed and numbered by me.

If you’re a fan of the Appleseed Cast, please stay tuned, we plan to work on more stuff soon.

To see all the photos I took of the prints, please check out this slide show:

2011 T-SHIRT PRESALE

What is up? I guess I’ll start with the t-shirts, which I couldn’t be more excited about. I have three, count it, THREE, new t-shirts available for presale. I first showed off these puppies at my booth at SXSW (Flatstock in Austin) and they were a hit.

The three designs are available for presale right now and will begin shipping in early April. The shirts are printed on 50/50 poly cotton American Apparel, which is incredibly soft, light, and comfortable. The inks are water based, so you’re not wearing a giant vinyl sticker on your chest.

All three designs are available in MEN’S (S,M,L,XL,XXL) and WOMEN’S (S,M,L) and can be purchased for $20 each from my online store.

STICKERS

The long awaited stickers that many of you voted on (on facebook) have finally arrived. Thanks to everyone who offered up their input on their favorite designs.

There are four different 8 x 2 inch stickers. Once is self promo and the other three have designer/printer, commercial artist inside jokes, so it’s ok if you don’t get the jokes right away. The pack of four costs $8 (with free shipping anywhere in the world) and can purchased from my online store.

While you’re in the merch section of my online store, please check out the sketch books. I just made a bunch more and there are many new designs to choose from.

DUNE POSTERS

I can’t believe the fanatic reception the DUNE poster has been getting. There’s been a lot of speculation, so I’ll take a moment to clear the air and make some official statements.

Phone Booth Gallery has sold out of their copies of DUNE and their series sets. From what I hear, all the prints are doing really well, which is just so cool. Their David Lynch themed group show, “OH, YOU ARE SICK…”, is still going on too.

I have copies of my DUNE poster that I will be selling in mid April, after Phone Booth Gallery is done with their David Lynch group show. I sold a few copies at my booth at SXSW already. Before the prints go up for sale, I will make a full post with sales information and post to my usual channels (facebook, twitter, etc).

WONDERCON and UNIQUE LA

I am officially an exhibitor at both WonderCon and Unique LA, both of which are very exciting upcoming events where I can display my work, sell some stuff, and meet tons of people (maybe you?!?!). Please check out the links for more info.

WONDERCON (APRIL 1-3, San Francisco)

UNIQUE LA (MAY 7-8, LOS ANGELES)

That’s all for now. I have some other squirrels coming through different fiery hoops, but I don’t want to throw too much out there just yet. I will say that 2011 is going to be a fine year. Oh yes, a fine year.

PS, if you’re in the mood, I prepared a slide show of the wild times I had at Flatstock 29 during SXSW in Austin, TX, last week. Highlights were the the Cold War Kids, Devotchka, Boudin Creek Cafe, and the insane amount of people coming my booth.

NOTE: This video depicts the poster when it was on orange paper, but a last minute decision to make it on yellow paper was made. The colors of the final result are not affected by this.

UPDATE: Phone Booth Gallery is currently sold out of these puppies. I will have copies I will be selling soon. I’ll post all sales information before they actually go on sale in this blog.

UPDATE: These are currently available for sale at Phone Booth Gallery.

There’s been a lot of chatter about the David Lynch print series that Phone Booth Gallery has put together. Different artists made prints for various screenings of films directed by around Long Beach.

I was thrilled when I got offered DUNE, the science fiction film based on the novels by Frank Herbert. I went to work right away.

The poster is 18 x 24 inches, screen printed with four colors on Lemon Drop Colored 100 lb French Cover Paper. The edition size is 100 and all copies are signed and numbered by me. Phone Booth Gallery will be selling them first, so please check with them. If they sell out, I’ll be selling my copies on my site soon after.

The film is visually dense and textured, so I felt the poster should look that way too. I also wanted to make a poster that was almost all traditional drawing and inking for a change. I haven’t really done that since “The Hatch“.

My goal was to create a time-line of events embedded in sedimentary soil layers, starting with the beginning of the film, up to the part where the main character confronts the monstrous sand worm. The events in the film are epic and would go down in history. Just like how our archeologists find the stories in the soil, so would archeologists in the universe of the storyline.

The process on for creating this poster was a lot different than what I normally do. Every day or two, for a little over month, I would make a small drawing of a notable scene from the movie, scan it into my computer, and work it into the growing composition. In that way, it kind of progressively grew itself until I go to where I wanted to end up.

I made a process video that shows the various sketches and myself drawing them.

To see photos of the poster, please check out the slide show I put together.

To see photos of the drawings, please check out the other slide show I put together.

Before I put my copies of this poster up for sale, I will make posts to my facebook, twitter, and this blog announcing necessary sales information.

MORE SKETCHBOOKS!

March 13, 2011

The sketch books I released earlier were really popular, so I’ve decided to make more with even more posters as covers.

These sketchbooks are made from old, damaged, and misprinted posters. They are 5 x 8 inches with 60 pages inside each one. The pages are quality book papers and come in white, cream, and white with grid pages. The sketch books have rounded corners so they are always nice looking.

These are currently available in the Merchandise section of my online store. Since there are too many sketch book cover variations to choose from, specific ones can’t be offered, but there is a text box to make requests. I’ll do my best, but no promises!

These sketch books and some other surprise products will be available at my booth at SXSW as well as online.
