Flatstock 22 and Renegade Craft Fair

by admin on September 4, 2009

FINALLY BACK.

What a trip. I got so locked down with working that I didn’t have time to update regularly. Here are various photos and videos, plus a sneak peak at an upcoming poster.

See all my photos in this awesome movie I assembled. The photos are for both Flatstock 22 and Renegade Craft Fair.

FLATSTOCK 22 IN SEATTLE
I gathered all my pics for FS22 in this Flickr Photoset. Below are a few highlights.

I really like Seattle. Great city, nice, clean, and I liked the lights on everything. Great signage too.

Me and David Cross in front of my booth.

Two Rabbits always get me into questionable situations. We were all lugging tons of stuff and they insisted that taking a bus to the hotel would be better than just waiting a few hours for my friend to give us a ride. As you can clearly see, that was an ill conceived idea. This is video of me shortly before I threw up a lung. I am hauling a 95 lb case!

While everyone was on the floor during Flatstock, I gave a test print of mine to Billy Perkins whose booth was first near the entrance. I told him to doodle on it and pass it left and tell that artist to do the same. It went through the entire floor, to all the booths, to all the artists. This is the front and back.

This is the greatest picture of Jay Ryan ever.

Suck it up Danger! You work for Tong now!

Over 25,000 people in the stadium watching Modest Mouse performing at Bumbershoot Seattle 2009. Great show.

RENEGADE CRAFT FAIR IN CHICAGO 2009

Almost immediately after Flatstock 22 ended, I flew to Chicago because I also had a booth there. I love Chicago, I have been there three times. I got to stay at my friend Paul’s place with a bunch of friends and we really soaked up everything, from the public transportation to food, to local print studios.

I gathered all my pics for FS22 in this Flickr Photoset. Below are a few highlights.

I love you Chicago!

Went to Xoco, the new Rick Bayliss (top chef winner) restaurant in Chicago. I ordered a torta, guacamole and chips (made in house), and churros with ice tea. All was delicious. Rick was there too, wiping a counter. There was news crew filming.

Delicious Design League was one of the studios I visited, thanks guys! Spike Press is in there two, but he was out of town at the time. They have a great set up of which I am so envious.

Renegade was great, lots of people stopping by and buying posters.

Me and Chris from Silent Giants hanging out in my booth. He was coming in there a lot for heat relief, because mine was located in a cooler spot. We also enjoyed good conversations.

I attended the huge Threadless Meetup at their warehouse in Chicago. Free food, free beer, karaoke, stickers, tees, you name it, it was there. Got to see lots of old friends.

RETURN FROM CHICAGO

No joke. I literally drove directly from LAX airport to my printer’s studio to do some checking on the screens and colors on my Bon Iver poster coming up on September 25. Check out all the pictures in this Flickr Photoset.

We used a loop to see the screen close up as Danny expressed his concern that some of my detail was too small. Some of it was, but not in any way that would mess things up.

Here it is closeup. Click the image to see it uber close up.

Here are the screens, in order from the first to the last.

I hope you all enjoyed this.

PREVIOUS ENTRY.

In this most humble year of 2009, I am attending Flatstock 22 in Seattle and Renegade Craft Fair in Chicago to sell posters and promote my art.

Here’s a few highlights of what’s going on so far.

Everything I need for my booth fit nicely in this case. So perfect, like tetris or the line from that Postal Service song. This case weighed in at 95 lbs. Keep in mind that I am selling at two events, back to back.

I made some badges for my helpers/assistants. Since they are both male and female, I made the badges so that one side is boy themed and one side is girlie themed. I am not totally sure exactly why I gave my artist badge (right) both a girl side and a boy side.

After packing, I hopped on a plane from LAX to Portland and finally to SeaTAC. The flight to Seattle was a propeller plane, real cool.
